For over a century, ammonia has been produced industrially using the Haber-Bosch process. We’ve found a better way.
Our approach
Jupiter Ionics has an exclusive license to develop patented technology first invented by Prof Doug Macfarlane and Dr Alexandr Simonov and their team at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. This technology uses an electrochemical process to produce ammonia by reducing nitrogen extracted from the air and combining it with hydrogen extracted from water, with power provided by renewable electricity.
Our science in detail
In the video at left, members of the MacFarlane/Simonov team describe their research in more detail. You can read more about it in a recent publication in the journal Science here: https://science.sciencemag.org/content/372/6547/1187
